Welcome to the 8th Grade!
On this page I will post important information for 8th grade. This is going to be a busy year filled with tons of learning, field trips, service opportunities, the high school application process, field day, carnival and finally graduation!
Our first field trip is scheduled for Monday, September 30th. We will be walking to the zoo. Students may either bring money to purchase lunch or they may bring a packed lunch. If you would like to be a chaperone please let me know.
Eighth graders are expected to be able to write in cursive. Anything they turn in for a grade must be written in cursive. Please encourage your child to practice their cursive writing if they are not used to it.
HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION
I will post high school information as I receive it. It is time to start thinking about which Catholic high school to apply to for next year if you are planning on attending one. 8th graders are allowed 2 excused days for shadowing. You can schedule shadow days directly through each high school's website. Please send a note letting us know when and where your child will be shadowing so they can be given that day's work to take with them.
Magnificat - Be a Blue Streak for a Day will run from September 17th through December 12th on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Website: www.magnificaths.org/visit
St. Ignatius - Wildcat for a Day will run from September 16th through November 22nd. Fall open house is October 3rd. Admissions testing will take place on October 5, October 26 and November 9. There will be an admissions test prep course offered on September 21. Website: www.ignatius.edu/how-to-apply
Villa Angela-St. Joseph - Open house dates: October 13 at 1 pm, November 6 and March 12 at 6 pm. Lunch and learn is a shorter, more personal experience than an open house, where parents will enjoy a light lunch and Q&A with the admissions office. These are scheduled for Octover 3, November 14, February 27 and April 2. Learn more at vasj.com/admissionevents. Entrance exams will be offered on October 10 and 23 at 5 pm, November 9 at 9 and 11am, November 19 at 5pm and December 7 at 9 am.
